Event Overview:

We are thrilled to announce our third annual Sandhill Crane Hunt in Lubbock, Texas, with Open Planes Outdoors! This event offers a unique and spectacular opportunity to witness hundreds of these majestic, prehistoric birds soaring overhead.

. What’s Included:

- Accommodation: Enjoy comfortable lodging at a beautiful Airbnb.

.

- Meals: Home-cooked meals provided throughout the event.

.

- Hunting Experience: Three days of hunting with A-frame and a possibility of layout hunts.

Itinerary:

1. December 12th: Arrival and welcome dinner 6pm.

.

2. December 13th-15th: Hunting days with professional guides, including the flexibility to switch between A-frame and layout hunting based on conditions. Tenatively 5am start time.

.

3. December 15th: Farewell breakfast in the field, hunt and departure.

.

 Important Information: - This event is a drug and alcohol-free experience.

- All meals and lodging are included in the event package.

- A $400 deposit is required to lock in your spot. Payment options are available.

What to Bring:

.

- Warm gear (Texas wind can be very cold)

.

- Cold hand warmers, gloves, hats, good boots, insulated boots, and bibs are highly recommended

Licensing Requirements: - Migratory bird license for Texas - Crane stamp (free if purchased in person, $5 online) - Federal duck stamp ($25) - Texas migratory license.

There will be no drugs or alcohol on the hunts

You are allowed to consum alcohol in moderation at the airbnb

 

Tansportation of birds

We will teach you how to process and cold pack your harvests. 

A completlely frozen bird can be tansported without wing or head intact if complety frozen and labled. If you co=hoose to not process your bird for taxidermy or any other reason wing OR head must remain intact.
